I decided to put together another mixtape. Jen is (sorta) in on this one, too. Well, her keyboard is.
- This was an impromptu live show over Livestream. The first song I played is called “Age Of Wonder” by Peter Block. (Props to Ourobouros for learnin’ me about this artist.)
- I was excited to see that Tiggr joined me during the live show. It was cool to have an audience and also to know that the live stream actually worked.
- The second song in this mixtape is called “Hooting & Howling” by Wild Beasts:
- Jen was still blogging. Furiously blogging. It’s all she does. But it’s better than doing meth.
- (Upon listening back to the show, it looks like I forgot to mute the microphones during at least part of this song.) The third song is by Garfield Mayor and it’s titled “Higher Stakes:”
I wondered if many people are still naming their kids “Garfield” and related a story about how my childhood subdivision had streets named after lesser-known presidents. Jen was still writing. - The next track is called “New Inheritors” by Wintersleep:
- Playing the Garfield Mayor song reminded me of the Garfield the cat animated shows. Specifically, the “Here Comes Garfield” series and its intro song (obligatory references here to Lou Rawls and Lorenzo Music):
I wondered if playing the Garfield clip will get me banned from Livestream. - The final track on this mixtape is called “Some Are Lakes” by Land Of Talk:
- I didn’t do all of the necessary homework for this show. I’m concerned that I may have my podcasters license revoked by the National Podcasters Guild of America. Jen’s not sure this organization exists. Based on a tip by Tiggr, I decided to look up Lorenzo Music’s profile on IMDB.

The lead singer of Land of Talk sounds eerily like Lucinda Williams although the style of the song is not her style. Lucinda Williams is a mixture of Cajun and Country. Great songs on this episode.
If you want to see a cool resource for finding out the popularity and history of names, check out WolframAlpha.com. Garfield as a name reached its popularity in 1880. There are about 1500 people in the US with that name currently. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=garfield&a=*C.garfield-_*GivenName-

I didn’t make the Lucinda Williams connection with Land of Talk. But now that you’ve mentioned it, I can definitely hear the similarity. And thanks for the stats on the name Garfield.
