It was a beautiful day today in California. So, I went for a walk to drop off a piece of mail.
- I was pleasantly surprised to find that a local restaurant refunded my credit card charge after an online order mixup. I figured I was gonna have to go over there and get it straightened out.
- It was 75 degrees and sunny today. This is one of the reasons I moved from Illinois to California. I still get homesick sometimes, tho. (Here’s the Tumblr blog I mentioned during the podcast.)
- I encountered some interesting modes of transportation. One of them was an ATV type of thing. The other was a powered wheelchair. Oh, and then there was a car on the sidewalk?
- I shared my thoughts about this episode of Flyswatter Show where Laura vented some of her frustrations about the state of podcasting.

Trying to get caught up. I am having a hard time this year because I’ve had so much work to do.
I think that, what was fun about podcasting in the beginning was that all the listeners felt like we knew the podcasters because they in turn listened to us, the listeners’s shows! It was like one big happy family. Well, kind of dysfunctional, but yeah. I think this is why I still enjoy working at Dragon*con’s podcasting track because I’ve gotten to know a lot of the old-school podcasters like Derek Colunduno and Robin “Swoopy” McCarthy of Skepticality, Matthew Wayne Selznik (though I haven’t seen him in a while), Keith and the Girl (though they only came once and got in a fight with us so they won’t be back), Scott Sigler, Mur Lafferty, Nate and Di, Tee Morris, Evo Terra, J.C. Hutchins, Philippa Ballintine, etc. Heck, I live in the same town so I see at least Derek of Skepticality at least once or twice a month.
So I feel like I’ve made a lot of friends through podcasting and that’s good.
